Paul Merson’s shocked that Chelsea did not win easily against Tottenham

Paul Merson was discussing his disappointment with Tottenham’s team selection and the surprising inclusion of injured players Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven ahead of the match against Chelsea.

Paul Merson said “I am a bit disappointed in this Tottenham team. I didn’t think this was going to be the team if I was honest.”

In the same discussion, Paul Merson expressed his initial belief that Chelsea would easily win the match and his surprise at the strength of the Tottenham line-up, especially considering the presence of Romero and Van de Ven.

Paul Merson said “I thought this was going to be a walk in the park today. I thought Chelsea would rip through these and win by three or four. I don’t see that now. I think this is as good as it gets for Tottenham. I am shocked the two centre-halves [Romero and Van de Ven] are playing. I can’t believe how strong their team is.”
