Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that centre back Eric Garcia has turned down a new contract at Manchester City and is now set to leave the club. Garcia, 19, joined the club from Barcelona and is now poised to return to Spain despite a strong season at the Etihad. The defender’s contract with City expires next summer, but the club will be eager to try and sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free next year. Guardiola also updated on the Sergio Aguero injury and admitted that he did not know when the Argentine would return from his injury.
Pep Guardiola said “He announced to us he doesn’t want to extend his contract with City, He has one more year and then after that, he doesn’t want to extend. We wanted to but he doesn’t want to. We imagine he wants to play in another place. Right now, I don’t know. He (Aguero) is still in Barcelona. He is getting better. I spoke with the doctors. Everything is like I thought but he is still in Barcelona. Hopefully.”
