Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has urged Mikel Arteta to consider signing former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba in the upcoming January transfer window. Pogba’s recent years have been challenging. His stint at Manchester United concluded controversially, with many feeling he never fully realized his potential at Old Trafford. After leaving United, Pogba returned to Juventus but faced a succession of injuries that significantly limited his playing time. In February, Pogba received a four-year ban from football following a positive test for Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in the previous August. However, after appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, his ban was reduced to 18 months.
Pogba remains contracted with Juventus, yet it’s uncertain whether the club will retain him, especially if another team expresses interest. Reports suggest Pogba is open to an English Premier League return, and Sagna believes Arsenal should seize the opportunity to sign him.
Bacary Sagna said “The Premier League suits Paul Pogba – I would love to see him join Arsenal. It would be great – he has experience; he loves to play with young players around him – that is when he is most efficient. At the 2018 World Cup, that was when he was most efficient – he had friends around him. He will get love from their fans. Now, he can start from scratch again – he’s had time away from football, and he’ll be back with a desire to get back into a good space and play football again.”
During his time with Juventus, Pogba managed to play only 12 matches before his suspension due to previous injuries.
