Micky van de Ven has shared his perspective on the altercation with Mohammed Kudus during Tottenham’s 4-1 victory over West Ham. The conflict arose when Van de Ven was fouled, kicked, and then struck in the face by Kudus, resulting in a straight red card for the West Ham player due to violent conduct. Kudus had initially put his team in the lead at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but his afternoon took a different turn after Spurs scored three goals in just eight minutes. Following this incident, a chaotic brawl broke out, which also saw Pape Matar Sarr being struck in the face. Consequently, the FA has charged both London clubs for the incident.
Micky van de Ven said, “What I can remember is that I had a duel with Kudus and I fell down on the ground and I had the feeling that he kicked too much through on the ball. He tried to kick the ball, but hit me twice, three times. I was obviously a bit mad in this situation and I stood up and I pushed him and then the situation happened from his side. He literally punched me in the face as I went down! To be honest, I don’t know what happened afterwards, I didn’t really see what happened afterwards, but that is the situation. The FA said we need to get fined for this. It is not how I think about it.”
Van de Ven was also cautioned for his involvement after pushing Kudus. This booking was his third of the season, placing him in a precarious position as he now faces the potential of suspension if he accumulates further cautions before the bookings reset after game week 19, scheduled for late December.
