Darren Bent said “What I don’t like about it is that I kind of felt that the Premier League didn’t want to make a decision. I felt they dragged it, dragged it, dragged it out and in the end, obviously, it was those guys that pulled out, said it was taking too long and pulled out the deal. I would have like to see the Premier League make a decision. The last decision that should have been made was the guys pulling out of the deal, they should have been the last ones to make a decision. The Premier League should have been like: ‘This is what we’re doing, bang, bang, bang, these are the criteria they need to meet and if they don’t this is what happens.’ They’ve still not even made a decision and it is really disappointing. It’s massive, humungous and the Premier League have to take some of the blame here because they dragged their feet, didn’t make a decision and they’ve been forced into this.”
It is rare that a former Sunderland player has words of sympathy for Newcastle United but Darren Bent, the former Black Cats strikers has criticised the premier league over their hesitancy to make a decision on the Newcastle United takeover and has sympathised with the Geordie faithful.
