The Premier League expressed their satisfaction with the tribunal’s decision, stating that it supported the integrity and purpose of the league’s regulations.
The Premier League said, “The tribunal upheld the validity of the rules, considering them vital for the effectiveness of the profitability and sustainability regulations (PSR). The panel dismissed City’s claim that the rules aimed to discriminate against clubs with Gulf ownership.”
Manchester City responded critically to the tribunal’s findings, highlighting certain aspects in their favor.
Manchester City said, “The panel found the APT rules were ‘structurally unfair’ and that specific decisions of the Premier League to restate the fair market value of two transactions entered into by the club had been set aside. The panel deemed the Premier League’s decisions as ‘procedurally unfair’ and criticised the unreasonable delay in the league’s fair market value assessment of two of their sponsorship transactions.”
Nottingham Forest had their share of controversy last season regarding financial breaches. Despite the punishment, the team remained optimistic about their financial management moving forward. Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo expressed confidence and relief over the club’s current financial standing.
Nuno Espirito Santo said, “I’m not expecting any similar problems this time around. The club ‘did well’ in balancing the books for the June 30 accounting deadline.”
