Carlo Ancelotti has described his strikers’ pair of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin as “special” and says that he is lucky to have inherited them at Everton. Ancelotti labelled the Brazilian as a “Really effective player” whilst he said that Calvert-Lewin was “unusual” because he was one of the rare players who was quick but still good in the air.
Carlo Ancelotti said “Both are really special strikers with a lot of quality, Dominic is really good with the head and usually a striker so good with the head is not so fast and not so quick. He is quick, fast and strong and has a lot of energy. Richarlison is the same. A really effective player. I am really happy with both of them. The fact I have two fantastic strikers gives a disadvantage to Moise Kean, another fantastic striker. We are happy with this because it is unusual to have these powerful players. You have to ask the players what they think about me and my knowledge and the strategy I put in place for the game, I try to put something into the game, but honestly nothing special. We play 4-4-2 defensively, we try to change the shape a little bit when we have the ball. The last game we played the last 30 minutes with five at the back which is a bit unusual for us, but what I am working on is a team that is able to play in a different shape, not only one shape. I think there we have to improve and we will improve.”
