Ross Barkley has revealed what Frank Lampard told his Chelsea players during his half-time team talk. Barkley came off the bench to send Chelsea to Wembley as Lampard’s half-time changes transformed his side’s fortunes. The Blues had been second best in the opening 45 minutes and Lampard acted by introducing Barkley, Mateo Kovacic and Cesar Azpilicueta at the interval for Reece James, Billy Gilmour and Mason Mount.
Ross Barkley said “Just that it wasn’t good enough for the Chelsea badge to be performing like that in the first-half, We improved in the second, but we could’ve done a bit better with the final pass – including myself. When you get in the box, the chances are there. Christian had a great chance in the first-half, unfortunate not to score. Getting in the box, we’re always going to get goals. We work on that a lot in training. He encourages us, the midfielders, to get into the box. The rewards are there, like you’ve seen today. The other midfielders get goals as well, he gives us little tips.”
