Harry Kane has spoken out for the first time after returning to action for Tottenham Hotspur with Bayern Munich pursuing a deal to sign the England captain. Kane featured for Spurs during their 3-2 defeat against West Ham United in Ange Postecoglou’s first game as a manager in Australia on Tuesday. New signing Manor Solomon has urged the 29-year-old striker to stay at Spurs despite interest from Bayern this summer.
Manor Solomon said: “He was really welcoming. You see that he is a big character and everyone wants to follow him. He’s a big, big player and we hope to play with him. I am really excited to play with such a big player like Harry Kane. It’s an honour for me, I want to help him and I want to learn from him.”
Spurs had 30 shots at goal to the Hammers’ four yet ended up losing the summer friendly in front of 46,266 fans at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Kane did not get on the scoresheet against West Ham but sent a message thanking supporters for the warm Australian welcome.
Harry Kane tweeted: “Been great in Australia so far. It’s a pleasure seeing fans in different parts of the world and thanks for the welcome we’ve had here. Good to get some minutes in the legs,” he added. Bayern have already had two bids for Kane rejected by Spurs – who are reluctant to let their star striker leave the club despite his uncertain contract situation.
