The reconstruction would provide 2000 extra seats by the end of the year taking the stadium capacity to 43000.”
In an injury boost, Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson was set to welcome Bryan Robson and Paul Parker back into the squad for the premier league matches post the international break. The duo had not played for the red devils for over six months and had to watch from the sidelines as United struggled to compete with Leeds on the later stages of the championship in the previous season. Ferguson confirmed that the duo’s first game back together was to be the match against Brighton in the Coca Cola cup which was tied at 1-1 after the first leg.
Ex Liverpool legend Tommy Smith came to the rescue of under pressure Vinnie Jones of Wimbledon after the later was in trouble over the controversial video “Football’s Hard Men” in which Jones was quoted saying that he used cheating and violence in football games to take advantage. Smith said that the matter was taken out of proportion and the FA had gone over the top with regards to the punishment given to Jones on the matter.
