Adama Traore has placed contract talk on the backburner to help Wolverhampton Wanderers seal Premier League survival. The flying winger took his tally for the season to three goals with the winner against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday to give Wolves’ hopes of beating relegation a shot in the arm. His future continues to dominate the headlines with his Wolves contract due to expire at the end of the season. But Adama, 27, is leaving negotiations over his future to his agent in order to concentrate on football.
Adama Traore said: “My focus is on the pitch and after that it’s for my agent. We have had a great relationship through these years. My mentality right now is to help the team when I’m on the pitch and to keep winning.”
Adama has been given a new lease of life by Julen Lopetegui, who has twice admitted his desire to keep his countryman at Wolves beyond the summer.
Adama Traore added: “My mindset is to give everything to the team right now and after we will see. I’m always happy with Wolves, with the manager. I’m working here 100 percent, my focus is just game by game.”
Adama has become something of a specialist substitute since Lopetegui arrived at Molineux. The winger has been used from the bench in nine of Lopetegui’s 11 Premier League games, with his latest impactful showing coming against Spurs.
Adama Traore said: “That is not my decision. What I can control is when I’m on the pitch, make an impact and try to help the team. This is the decision of the gaffer, I respect the gaffer. He has tried to improve me as a player. Whatever minutes the team needs me to help, I will be there. Every player wants to start, of course, there are no players in the world who don’t want to start.”
