Fabio Silva has opened up about the influence Ruud van Nistelrooy is having on his development at PSV Eindhoven. The Wolves striker was loaned out in the summer as the club looked to find regular minutes for the young forward. He began the season at Anderlecht – where he scored 11 goals in 32 games – before making the switch to PSV last month. Silva scored his first goal for the club at the weekend as he slotted in PSV’s fifth in their 6-0 win over Groningen. Signed by former Manchester United star Ruud van Nistelrooy, the Wolves prospect is relishing the chance to learn under the Premier League Golden Boot winner.

Fabio Silva said: “I am very happy. We played a good game, we booked a great victory with six goals difference. Personally I am also very happy with my goal, but it is not possible without a good staff and a good team.”

Discussing what he has learned under Van Nistelrooy’s tutelage so far,

Fabio Silva added: “During our first meeting we talked for fifteen minutes about how I shoot the ball. I’ve learned so much from that already, from one of the best strikers in the world ever and I can do that as a 20-year-old.”

Silva is yet to start a game in his first four appearances for the Dutch club, with Van Nistelrooy sticking with his captain Luuk de Jong as a lone number nine. However, the Wolves loanee admitted that he understands the situation and is willing to bide his time behind the experienced striker.

Fabio Silva added: “ Of course I want to play every minute, but I also try to look at what I can learn from the training sessions and the matches. He played for the best teams in the world, at Sevilla and Barcelona. So I have a coach who was one of the best strikers ever and also a top striker as a fellow player. To me that is incredible.”
