ENGLAND skipper Harry Kane saw his Spurs side pick themselves up off the canvas to beat Cherries 3-2 before declaring: “They are in the Premier League for a reason.” Speaking to the Daily Echo post-match, Kane gave full credit to the way Cherries took the game to the north London side in the opening hour.Asked whether heading to Cherries proved a difficult task,
Harry Kane replied: “Yeah, for sure. They are in the Premier League for a reason, they are a really good side and have picked up some good results this year. We knew it would be a tough game, obviously them going 2-0 ahead was credit to them. I think this season there are loads and loads of good teams, I think it’s really tight all the way through really. The middle pack has got better, so it’s going to be interesting to see how everyone unfolds towards the end of the season. All I know is every game in the Premier League is tough and Saturday was no different. It was great to get the win, of course. Areas we could improve for sure but great character, especially when we have been in a tough period, is really pleasing. It leads us up nicely for the rest of the week.”
Defeat to Spurs left the Dorset outfit without a point in their past three games under Gary O’Neil. Prior to that, the former West Ham and Portsmouth midfielder had masterminded a six-game unbeaten run following the sacking of Scott Parker. Asked about the job done by O’Neil from the outside,
Harry Kane said: “He’s done great, credit to him obviously coming in. He had six games or so and turned their results around but it’s tough. The Premier League is tough, you are playing great opposition every week. They are going to come up against some good teams but they have been doing well this season, so fair play to them.”
Cherries’ next test comes with a trip to Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday. Crysencio Summerville’s late goal saw Leeds claim a dramatic 2-1 win at Liverpool last time out to ease the pressure on head coach Jesse Marsch.
