As was the case last week, Fulham coach Marco Silva is expecting to come up against dangerous attacking opposition on Saturday. Wolverhampton Wanderers were beaten in their season opener, but our Head Coach is well aware of their threat.
Marco Silva said “Regarding Wolves and how they can be really tough for us, I don’t have doubts about it. Top quality individual players, in their attack line they have so much quality. The situation this week is a good example – another player [Goncalo Guedes] that they have signed. There is a lot of quality and pace in the attack line, and of course experience. Two or three really experienced midfielders, that don’t just know how to manage the game in the best way, but can create the moments for the players in the attack line to create problems for the opposition. It will be a tough match against, in my opinion, a really quality team, a very good manager, and some individual players who can make the difference. It’s up to us to keep showing our good organisation, and when we have the ball we have to be ourselves. We’re always looking to try to create problems for them as well because it’s our obligation to go there to match them and try to get points for us. It’s the next one, and as always that’s the most important one for us. We’ve had a good week so far from our players, the commitment, the desire to do the right things.”
Like Fulham, there is a strong Portuguese contingent at Molineux, and Silva is hoping his compatriot Bruno Lage has a good season, just not on Saturday.
Marco Silva said “Every time he’s not playing against me, I wish all the best for him. I think he will be the same for me. I’m almost 100 per cent sure it will be the first time we will face each other in a matchday. When I was in Portugal, Bruno was working more in the academy, in the young teams of Benfica. And I played once against him in England, but he was assistant at Swansea. He’s a very good manager, he’s doing a very good job at Wolves, and it will be a tough match for us. Again, I wish the best for him, just when he plays twice against Fulham I wish at the end of the match I will be happier than him.”
