Aston Villa striker Danny Ings has insisted it will ‘all come together’ for Steven Gerrard’s squad this season following a ‘good start’ to pre-season preparations. Speaking Ings assessed the pre-season training so far, highlighting the benefits both physical and mental for the squad whilst also looking ahead to next season.

Danny Ings said: “For me personally, it’s huge. It really does give you the platform for the season, not just physically but also tactically and mentally. If you put the work in for however long the pre-season is, you give yourself the best chance going into the season. The demands are there, which is so important for the team. Going into the season, having that full block of work is huge for us tactically to get an understanding of the way they want to play and how they want us to be. To get the numbers on the board, physically, it will all come together. It’s been a good start so far. I feel really good. Before we joined back up, I was really looking forward to having a full pre-season. It’s huge for me to get that workload in. I looked after myself in the summer and did quite a bit of training – the same as everyone else. Everyone has come back looking really strong and fit. I’m really looking forward to the season.”
