Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has stated that he loves watching Harry Kane play, apart from against his own club. A pivotal figure in the Tottenham team since breaking into the XI on a permanent basis under Mauricio Pochettino, the striker has scored for fun when coming up against the Foxes.

Brendan Rodgers said: “He’s a world-class striker and has proven that for the past few years. Apart from against Leicester, I love watching him play. You can see how he’s improved and how he’s developed. It’s been great to see him at the very highest level. They have very talented players as well and they are well-coached in the system they play. They have top players who can make that system very efficient.”

As well as Kane has played for Tottenham in recent months with his goals and assists helping the team climb the league, new signings Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski have also played a major role in their upturn in form.

Brendan Rodgers added: “The new players they have brought in have done really well. Kane and Son and their quality, they score and create goals, they are two players you have to look out for. Antonio has been very clear in how they want to play. It’s up to us to play with quality.”

Without Jamie Vardy for a large chunk of 2022 due to hamstring and knee problems, Leicester’s star man has featured in their last two games against Aston Villa and Roma. Playing 62 minutes against the latter on Thursday evening in the Europa Conference League, Vardy is working his way back to full fitness and that has left Rodgers with a decision to make this weekend.

Brendan Rodgers admitted: “He might be ready to play 90 minutes, but if he’s not at the level, he will come off. It’s about giving him the chance from a fitness perspective. He’s done amazing to get back. It’s ongoing. He’ll have to recover well now, and we’ll have to decide if it’s too much of a risk to involve him at the weekend. You have to be able to play and perform.”
