The agent for Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has said there are currently no talks ongoing between the club and the player over a possible new contract. The Senegal international has been a crucial part of the Reds’ success since joining the club from Southampton in 2016, earning a reputation as one of the best wingers in world football in that timeframe. The agent said Mane opted against any kind of public celebration of his triumph when he returned to Merseyside, so focus remained on the team’s pursuit of four trophies.
Sadio Mane agent said: “He had a good reception in the dressing room when he got back. But then the timing just wasn’t right with the Leicester game on [the] Thursday. The club wanted to do something but the timing wasn’t right with two away games coming. The ceremony would’ve been two weeks after that and Sadio asked them to just focus on the remainder of the season. It didn’t have a lot to do with Mo. It was a 100 per cent a Sadio decision, not the club’s.”
