David Moyes believes West Ham can match Declan Rice’s ambitions with the manager targeting a spot in the Champions League next season. Rice revealed in an interview with Gary Neville on The Overlap that he wants to win trophies during his career both in club and international football.
Declan Rice said: “I’ve grown up as a kid and saw players like yourself [Neville] win the Premier Leagues and Champions Leagues. Me, as a football fan and also as a player, I want to win the best stuff. I want to win the Premier League and lift that trophy, I want to win the Champions Leagues and the FA Cups and the League Cups and even the stuff with England, I want to win it all.”
When questioned about his vice-captains ambitions Moyes revealed this was nothing new to him.
David Moyes said: “He has just said all the words I have said to him. We want to be in the Champions League, to win the Champions League the first you have to do is qualify for it. We want to challenge the teams at the top. We have got European football and are now getting ourselves in a position where we are giving the top teams a game and what we want to do is build on it and Declan is a big part of it, a really important player to us and we want to try and fulfil those ambitions the same as Declan.”
Despite Rice constantly being linked with a move away from West Ham football.london understands that the Hammers have no intention of letting their star man leave this summer. The England international is contracted to the club until 2024 with a further one-year option on his current deal and West Ham are confident of keeping their man for the long haul.
