#PLStories- Mason Holgate gives insight to new Frank Lampard era at Everton #EVERTONFC

Mason Holgate has revealed that Frank Lampard told Everton’s players to have faith in their ability and believes his new boss has already started to transform the feeling around the club.

Mason Holgate said: “People around my age know exactly who he is. When I was big enough to start watching football, the boss was always one of the best players and one you wanted to watch all the way through. With people like him and Ashley (Cole), when they come in you are a little bit in awe of them, really. He is a younger manager who is not out of the changing room too long so he comes in with a lot of new ideas in his coaching and what he has been doing is really enjoyable, to be fair. We have gone out and showed the confidence and the quality that we have got and it is something that the boss said. He told us he believed in the quality of the squad and we showed we have got that in us (with this result). But we have got to keep working on what we are going to do.”

Despite racing into a 2-0 lead after just 48 minutes, thanks to goals from Yerry Mina and Richarlison, the Blues were pegged back six minutes before the hour-mark.

Mason Holgate added: “Definitely. There is no hiding from the fact that the atmosphere hadn’t been great before. It was from all aspects on the pitch to everyone. But everyone could feel this was a fresh start and the fans were brilliant all the way through. When Brentford scored, they could have been a bit nervy but they stayed behind us. I think that showed in what we did on the pitch. It was very important to get the winning feeling back in the changing room. It had been too long. It is really hard when you are going out, you are not winning games and you are getting into the routine. We had to break the mould and get a win. We want to keep the feeling going with the games we have got coming up.”
