Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is part of a core of Leicester City players who will stabilise the club, manager Brendan Rodgers has said, as the Shepshed-born midfielder makes the Premier League his home.

Brendan Rodgers said: “These are guys who, having come through the system, are getting the opportunity to play at the very highest level. It’s a core of players we’re building that will hopefully stabilise the club over the next number of years. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been outstanding since he’s come in and looks a ready-made Premier League player, but he knows he has to keep working and stay focused and keep improving.”

It took Dewsbury-Hall until he was 23 to get his first Premier League start, having waited patiently in the club’s development squad for a few seasons before going out on loan to Blackpool in League One and Luton in the Championship. It’s been a big step up for the midfielder, but he does not feel overwhelmed.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall said: “I have overcome a lot of hurdles to get to this point and that has helped me. I feel really comfortable playing in the Premier League now. It is quite early in my career in the Premier League, but I don’t feel daunted and feel like you need that confidence going onto the pitch because that’s how you play your best football. You don’t want to feel like you’re out of your depth because that’s when you start not playing well. I’m going onto the pitch and I’m just expressing myself, being confident, and I feel at home. Long may that continue and I keep improving.”
