Brendan Rodgers will continue to strive towards the three objectives of the club’s vision as Leicester City look to push on in the second half of the season. Assessing the current state of the club at the end of last month,
Brendan Rodgers said: “If we’re missing our best players, it’s very tough for us. We’ll then be where we’re at (in the table), on par as such. My job is to try to elevate us beyond that while doing what I said I would do when I came in: hopefully win titles, play good football, and bring players in from the academy. Those were the three things that the vision outlined. For me, the challenge is to keep disrupting the market, keep fighting while keeping the club in a sustainable place.”
Helping in those objectives will be City’s returning players, with Rodgers particularly excited to have James Justin and Wesley Fofana back in his team again. Justin made his first start in the 11 months in January, while Fofana is due to return to full training at some point this month.
Brendan Rodgers said: “That’s the challenge, it’s looking ahead to that (qualifying for Europe). I’m excited by that. The players coming back, seeing JJ back on the pitch again lets you know what you’ve been missing for this last one year, his quality and his relative experience, he played a lot of football as a young player. Then we get Wesley Fofana back, this is a potential world-class centre-half which was a big blow for us when he got injured. We get those guys back, we continue to develop the players we have and really look to attack the second part of the season. We’ll keep pushing and looking to develop the team, knowing we’ll keep improving.”
