Crystal Palace midfielder Nathan Ferguson has explained how difficult it is to play against highly-rated Manchester United attacker Mason Greenwood. Although he has yet to start for United in the Premier League under interim manager Ralf Rangnick, he scored a delightful volley in the draw with Young Boys in the Champions League. And Palace youngster Ferguson — who is yet to make his debut for Patrick Vieira’s side — emphasised how much of a problem it is handling Greenwood, who he’s faced in youth games, when asked which player inspires him.
Nathan Ferguson said: “Maybe Mason Greenwood, you know. I’ve played against this guy in tournaments about four times and he is a problem to play against. He is just quick. Now he’s in the Prem [Premier League] doing his thing.”
Rangnick has already pinpointed Greenwood as “massive talent” in his short spell at the club and the German has tasked himself with developing the academy graduate.
Ralf Rangnick said: “He’s a massive talent — left foot, right foot, good on the ball. Also the way that he set up the goal for Fred [against Palace in Rangnick’s first game] so it’s about continuity. He has to develop physically but technically for his age he is a great player. My job is to develop him, to make an athlete out of him and if he manages to do that, he can become a regular player for this club.”
