Tony Daley had accepted that he may have to settle for a limited part in Villa’s finale to the premier league show. The 25-year-old flying winger was set for his first competitive game since the end of August when playing for Villa Reserves. He had undergone surgery to repair knee ligament damage he suffered six months earlier. But he knew that even an impressive display for the reserves was not going to guarantee him a place in Sunday’s premier league clash against Nottingham Forest.
Tony Daley said “Its going to take a while to get back to full fitness. I am probably about 80 per cent fit at the moment. But I can’t expect to walk back into the first team. It wasn’t a good result against Norwich last week but the team played well. Its just good to be involved again.”
