Dave O’Leary should have left Arsenal a long time ago according to Republic of Ireland boss jack Charlton. O’Leary made the decision to end his 20-year romance with Highbury a week earlier claiming that he was looking for more first-team football.
Jack Charlton said “I’m very glad that David made this decision. Perhaps he should have done as a couple of seasons ago. I had a chat with David about this when we were in Dublin for the Welsh game and I told him he was making the right choice. I told him that he needs to be playing for a first team to make sure he stays around in the national set up. David needs first-team football soon. I hope he gets fixed up at a good club.”
