Nottingham Forest have successfully secured their place in the Premier League for a fifth consecutive season, with two games remaining. This achievement allows the club to begin planning for future campaigns, and manager Vitor Pereira is optimistic about the strong foundations in place at the club.
Vitor Pereira said: “If you are in a club where we create the environment, the energy and we are aligned to do the things, everything is possible; it is possible to build something strong and to fight again for different targets. I believe we can do it. This is a fantastic club with the organisation and with the supporters. I think we can build something good for the future. We have the conditions to build something good for the future.”
Vitor Pereira continued: “It is important to have good decisions, to look at the season. Every time we learn. Every day I learn with my life and my career. We can improve. This is the moment to look at the season, to understand what we should keep doing and the things we cannot do again. This is the way to start to give a step to the next level. We start to make plans for next season, and that’s all. But we need to focus on the last two games. After, we will decide what we have to decide.”
Pereira’s appointment in February marked a significant turnaround for the club, culminating in a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United, which, combined with West Ham United’s defeat to Arsenal, confirmed their safety. Reflecting on the season, Pereira expressed satisfaction with the team’s efforts and the relief of achieving their primary goal of survival.
Vitor Pereira added: “We did well. We worked a lot to achieve our priority, and our priority from the beginning was to be safe as soon as possible. We are not in the battle with two games to spare. This battle takes a lot of energy. It is difficult to go to the last game to decide the future. Now we can start to decide things about the future. Now is the time to build something together. We’ll see. I’m very happy. We did good work together.”
Looking ahead, Pereira is keen to maintain momentum and focus on the remaining fixtures, aiming for maximum points. Additionally, the club is reportedly interested in securing a new deal for full-back Neco Williams, whose performances have attracted attention.
Regarding Williams, Vitor Pereira stated: “I don’t know. He’s another player who deserves everything. He’s consistent. I know what I can expect from him every game. He deserves everything. He has been very consistent with quality defending and attacking since we have been working together. He is a very good player.”
As Nottingham Forest prepare for the future, Pereira’s leadership and the club’s strategic planning will be pivotal in building on this season’s success and striving for new achievements in the Premier League.
