Marco Silva
Fulham is grappling with injury woes as they prepare to face Brighton, with key players sidelined. The return of Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze offers some relief, but the absence of crucial squad members remains a significant concern for manager Marco Silva.
Marco Silva said: “It was a difficult moment for him. After the game, it was painful, was difficult even to walk, and the feedback just confirmed that it was a serious injury. It’s going to be difficult to define a clear timescale – more than four weeks probably out, four to five weeks he’s going to be out of our plans for the games. He’s another big player for us that is going to be out – it’s a moment for the others to step in. It’s our story so far this season.”
Silva’s comments highlighted the severity of the injury situation, emphasizing the challenges Fulham faces as they navigate the Premier League season. The loss of key players has been a recurring theme for the team, necessitating other squad members to rise to the occasion.
Silva explained: “Rodrigo next week is going to give other steps in the direction of what is important for him to be ready. If you ask me right now, next week he’s probably not going to be in contention [to face Manchester United]. From the next week, if he’s going to react well, probably have him soon in contention. But next week, for sure not. About Kenny – he’s training with the team. Depending on my decision, he can be in contention for tomorrow.”
On a brighter note, Silva provided updates on Kenny Tete and Rodrigo Muniz, who have returned to training. While Muniz is unlikely to feature against Manchester United, there is a possibility of his return in the near future. Tete, on the other hand, might be in contention for the upcoming match against Brighton, depending on Silva’s final decision.
Fulham’s potential starting lineup against Brighton could see Leno between the posts, with Castagne, Andersen, Bassey, and Robinson forming the defensive line. In midfield, Berge and Iwobi are expected to play pivotal roles, while Chukwueze, Wilson, and Kevin support Jimenez in attack. The team will need to adapt quickly to these changes to maintain their competitive edge in the league.
