Marco Silva
Fulham manager Marco Silva has expressed his strong desire to retain Harry Wilson, despite a last-minute bid from Leeds United on transfer deadline day. Leeds United faced disappointment on September 1 when their efforts to sign the Welsh international fell through, leaving manager Daniel Farke without the attacking reinforcement he sought. Wilson, whose contract with Fulham runs until the summer of 2026, remains a key player for the Cottagers. As of July 1 next year, Leeds could negotiate a free transfer for Wilson, but Silva is confident that the winger will commit his future to Fulham.
Marco Silva said: “It is not a player who is with me just one month, two months, or two years. It is his fifth year with us, he was my first signing when I joined the football club, and I know him very well. For me, it was never a problem. I know how much he really wants to stay in the football club. Of course, conversations, they are there, the conversations between us and his representatives. Let’s see what is going to happen. But, I know really the aim of him is to stay in the football club and if we can get an agreement, his future is going to be with us, 100 per cent sure.”
Leeds United, meanwhile, showcased their attacking capabilities with a 3-1 victory over Wolves, propelling them to 12th place in the Premier League standings. Despite this success, they had struggled in previous matches against higher-ranked teams, raising questions about their consistency. Reflecting on the transfer window, Leeds manager Daniel Farke maintained a positive outlook.
Daniel Farke said: “I don’t feel sorry for myself. You won’t hear a bad word from me after a transfer window has closed. Once the situation is done, I adapt to the reality. There’s not one thought of me to be disappointed or down.”
Wilson’s potential departure could have provided Leeds with the attacking depth they sought, but Silva’s determination to keep the player underscores his value to Fulham. With contract renewal talks underway, Silva remains optimistic about securing Wilson’s future with the club. As the season progresses, both clubs will be keen to see how their strategies unfold on the pitch.
