Denis Irwin felt that Eric Cantona won’t be the leading man at Manchester United just yet. He said that United was benefitting from the Cantona effect already but the Frenchman was unlikely to be a major force on the pitch just yet. “To say that we were surprised at his signature would be, to put it mildly. But it seems to have boosted up the players. We were having a block about scoring goals and his presence alone, whether in the stands or on the pitch seems to have freed it.
