The premier league’s new experiment with squad numbering had not gone down well with the fans of most of the clubs and the move had been described as money-minded by most of faithful. After protest emerged during the previous round of the matches, the Football Supporters’ Association had to step in and decided to raise the concern with the premier league hierarchy about the issue. The new experiment meant that apart from just numbers, the jerseys will also have names of the players on the back which would mean that the price of buying an official jersey would go up.
Steve Moss, the spokesperson of the Football supporters association said “At best, this is an irrelevant gimmick, at worst, it’s a total ripoff. If your favourite player is Chris Bart – William who is number 14, you will have to play £20 for the jersey or £21 if you want the hyphen. It’s ridiculous.”
