Graham Potter Brighton

#PLStories- Brighton boss demands more from players for Manchester City trip #BHAFC

ALBION boss Graham Potter believes Saturday’s win at Tottenham was their best display in his three years at the club – but he has told his players they will need to be even better at Manchester City. A week after the Seagulls beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, they repeated the trick across north London thanks to Leandro Trossard’s 90th-minute winner. The fixtures do not get any easier, though, with Albion heading to Manchester to take on Pep Guardiola’s Premier League pace-setters on Wednesday night. “I was really proud of the players,” said Potter. “It was a really good performance, probably one of the best, if not the best, in my time at the club. “You have to have that level of performance if you are going to get a result at Tottenham. Historically it’s not easy for us to go there and get a win. Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter, credit Simon Dack “The players gave everything on the day, and that gives you a chance to get a result. Our supporters were brilliant and it was a really good day for the club. “It gives you confidence, I guess. We’ve played some good games this season, we’ve taken a step forward I think. “But the past is the past and you have to start again, against an absolutely fantastic side. I would say we’ll have to be even better than we were against Spurs. That’s the challenge. “It’s very rare you get the opportunity to play against the very best in sport, so while it’s an incredible challenge it’s also exciting. We’ll go there and do our best.” City will host the Seagulls on the back of their gruelling Champions League tussle with Atletico Madrid and the 3-2 FA Cup semi-final defeat by Liverpool. But Potter added: “I don’t think any time is a good time to play them, in terms of how they are as a team. “In the game at the weekend you saw their qualities. You admire them just as much in defeat as when they are winning games. “They had a tough two games against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, you can’t imagine how tough that is, in between two Liverpool matches. “To recover from 3-0 down at half-time and play the second half as they did, the way they acted was very, very impressive.”
Pep Guardiola

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admitted his treble-chasing side were in “big trouble” after picking up injuries in the Champions League. A 0-0 second leg draw in a fiery clash away to Atletico Madrid secured a 1-0 aggregate win and sent the Premier League leaders into the semi-finals. Their injury concerns will initially be seen in the context of their FA Cup semi-final clash with title rivals Liverpool at the weekend. But Albion fans will also be keeping an eye on the state of play with City given their team go to the Etihad next Wednesday when league action resumes. City saw Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker both go off with injuries at the Wanda Metrropolitano and Phil Foden left the pitch heavily bandaged. “We are in big trouble,” Guardiola told BT Sport. BRIGHTON'S JAKUB MODER REPORTS SUCCESSFUL SURGERY “We cannot forget we played three days ago a tough game against Liverpool. "We came here, we have a lot of injuries. "I don’t know what will happen in the next weeks but today we are going to celebrate. “It is the third time in Manchester City’s history we are in the semi-finals of the Champions League and it is a big success for us to be there.” Guardiola did not mention how severe the injuries were, while he also claimed he had “nothing to say” on the ugly scenes which marred his side’s progression on Wednesday night. The match ended in rancour and bitterness with scuffles on the field and in the tunnel.
Sean Dyche Burnley

#PLStories- Burnley boss Sean Dyche believes performance against Liverpool deserved points #BURNLEYFC #LFC

BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche insists his side deserved something from their 1-0 defeat against Liverpool at Turf Moor. Fabinho scored the decisive goal, slotting home from close range after the Clarets had failed to deal with Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner. Wout Weghorst and Jay Rodriguez both missed good chances at the other end as Dyche’s men failed to end their winless run. “From our point of view, it’s a good performance against a good Liverpool side,” said the Burnley chief. “I thought that we took the game to them and in the first half, we created some amazing chances against the quality of this opposition with some very good play. “Building on the last three games, we’ve had a real firm mentality towards it and working in front of the right crowd - they get behind us. And it’s head-scratching today because I thought we deserved more than we got from the game. “That’s the challenge of the season and it’s the story of our season. We’ve had some really good chances in the first half particularly and not taken them. “Wout has done great for us, he looks like he will turn into a really good player for us, and Jay has a golden chance as well.” The result leaves the Clarets seven points from safety, though they still have at least two games in hand over the sides around them. Dyche’s men are back in action on Saturday, February 19 when they take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium (KO 3pm). Clarets on social, plus take out a subscription...
