#PLStories- Graham Potter heaps praises on Robert Sanchez as he rivals Alisson in key stat #BHAFC

Albion have been praised for standing strong in defence during a season of upheaval. Robert Sanchez has earned particular credit in a campaign which has seen various defenders suffer significant absences or leave the club altogether. Only four teams have conceded fewer away goals than the Seagulls, who visit Wolves tomorrow (3pm). Albion have nine clean sheets so far this season with four games to go. Head coach Graham Potter said: “That has been one of the things I’ve been most pleased with, that despite the fact we’ve got key defensive players missing, we’ve managed to perform well as a defensive unit and that’s another factor that makes it harder for Rob. “If you speak to most goalkeepers, they will want consistency ahead of them. “They want that stability and I understand, it’s all those things, he has not been able to have that for different reasons. “It’s credit to him he has still managed to help us with points. “I saw a stat the other day that he’s only behind Alisson (Becker of Liverpool) in one-v-one saves in the league. “He has helped us keep clean sheets. “He’s a young goalkeeper who, like us all, will make mistakes. “But generally his level is really good and he’s only going to get better.” IS IT TIME FOR BRIGHTON'S SHANE DUFFY TO MOVE ON Tariq Lamptey is likely to return to the matchday squad after missing the 2-2 draw with Southampton because of a minor knee injury. Lamptey trained yesterday and Albion were waiting to see whether he felt any adverse reaction. Potter will not be rotating his squad with mid-table safety pretty much secured. He said: “For me it’s pick our strongest team and try and compete for the three points, that’s the priority. “I think I’d be doing everybody a disservice if I wasn’t thinking that way.   Full #PremierLeague GK 1v1s ranking:As @Carra23 correctly said #Alisson is the 1v1 king! 👑#Sanchez & #Sa have been very impressive too🧤#Pickford, #Guaita, & #Krul have all struggled 😔The general standard of 1v1 GKing has been excellent this year vs previous years! 🔥 pic.twitter.com/Da6lbM2kt0 — John Harrison (@Jhdharrison1) April 26, 2022 “We have to pick the team that we think gives us the best chance of winning because every point in this league is important, so valuable. “The guys were competing in a really good training session today - everyone wants to play. “So you know that and then it’s just about picking what you think is the team that gives us the best chance.”

#PLStories- Graham Potter backs Robert Sanchez to reach highest level #BHAFC

Robert Sanchez has been told he can reach the “very highest level”. Sanchez has been speculatively linked – along with other goalkeepers - with interest from Newcastle, although their reported £20 million valuation of him looks low. Seagulls boss Graham Potter said: “I don’t know what headlines he has had but from our perspective it’s quite clear that he has the capability to play at the very, very highest level. He has got that potential. “The only thing that’s missing is the games and the experience which playing in the Premier League, especially in front of crowds, can really help. WHY PREMIER LEAGUE TIME WAS RIGHT FOR MOISES CAICEDO “He has got the capacity to make world class saves. “I’m just delighted for him that he has been able to make them and help us win a game of football.”

#PLStories- Graham Potter reveals Robert Sanchez happiness in returning to playing 11 after red card suspension #BHAFC

Robert Sanchez is ready to come bouncing back from his first red card. The Albion goalkeeper is expected to return to the XI as they face Leeds tomorrow (5.30pm). That is despite Jason Steele emerging with flying colours from his Premier League debut at Aston Villa. Sanchez has had time on the training ground both with Albion and Spain since his dismissal against Newcastle. Seagulls boss Graham Potter said: “He has reacted really well. “It’s a football action that can happen so there’s no blame for Rob – no negativity for that. “It’s part of his experience and development as a player so we’re all behind him and he will come back stronger for it.” Sanchez recently turned 24 and has so far made 38 Prem appearances, the equivalent of one full season. Potter said: “He’s quite a level-headed guy who keeps things in perspective. “Obviously he’s lucky because Ben Roberts works really well with him and he’s got the support of his team and the support of everybody here. “We know his quality. The sky’s the limit for him but he’s still a young goalkeeper and you can’t short-cut that process. EX-SOUTHWICK PLAYER SET TO TAKE OVER AT MANCHESTER UNITED “That’s the reality of it, regardless of whatever he did. “We also know Jason’s qualities. They are two different goalkeepers at two different stages of their careers, but they are both really important for us.”
