#PremierLeagueStories – Arsenal legend urges #MikelArteta to resolve #MesutOzil issue #AFC

Thierry Henry has hailed the job that Mikel Arteta is doing at Arsenal so far, but warned the Gunners boss to resolve the issue surrounding Mesut Ozil. The German midfielder has been omitted from Arsenal's Premier League and Europa League squads, and has not played for the club since March. Arteta has played down the situation, claiming the midfielder was left out for footballing reasons, but Gunners legend Henry believes the Arsenal first team manager must sort out the situation for the club to move forward. "First and foremost, you can see an identity, a togetherness," Henry told CBS Sports podcast Que Golazo. "But what I see with Mikel is that the passion is back, the happiness is back, obviously he gave them a good solidity. Now he needs to deal with what he needs to deal with: the Ozil case and other cases. That doesn’t happen overnight. "When you inherit a team from someone, you need to make sure you can clear some stuff, because it just doesn’t happen overnight. And then people are like 'Oh, oh, oh, he didn’t give all those contracts to some of those players'. And that takes time. ‘And on top of everything, in this league it takes even more time because the competition is crazy. "I don’t know when was the last time where, after six games, every team already lost a game. Every team already lost a game – I don’t remember that. It means what it means, it’s not easy for even the teams that are well prepared, well organised. "Like I always say, the game is long. To build a team it doesn’t happen just like that overnight. "Took him two-and-a-half to three years to have a completed team. Now everybody respects what he does - and rightly so by the way because he’s a hell of a manager - but then from them understanding what he wanted he went and bought pieces that were missing: Van Dijk, Alisson, Fabinho, and some others now. "But at the beginning it took him two-and-a-half years or so for them to understand his philosophy, because it doesn’t happen overnight."

#PLStories – #CarltonCole believes #MesutOzil should come to West Ham and feel loved again #WHUFC #ArsenalFC

Carlton Cole says he would love to see Mesut Ozil at West Ham. The Arsenal outcast looks set to leave the Emirates within the next 12 months having been excluded from both the Gunners' Premier League and Europa League squad. Ozil's contract is up at the end of the season and this week he issued a statement hitting out at the club's perceived lack of loyalty after he opted to sign a new contract at the Emirates. Former Hammers striker Cole says he thinks Ozil should undoubtedly have a role at Arsenal and questioned how he was unable to even make their 25-man Premier League squad. Cole told talkSPORT: "I think he knows why he's not playing but he's got to play to the press as well. "It's all PR as well, you've got to understand that. "There's a reason why he's not in that team or even close to it because it's Mesut Ozil - you'd put him in a 25-man squad, come on. When asked if he'd take Ozil at West Ham, Cole added: "Of course, of course. West Ham have always liked those kind of players, those magician-like players. Ozil was once again a source of attention during the Gunners' Europa League tie with Rapid Vienna. Pre-match, the attacking midfielder urged his team on with a post on Twitter. He said: "When I can't support on the pitch tonight, I will support in front of the TV in London. "What are your predictions for the match? I go for a 4-1 away victory." Ozil's actions earned praise from Mikel Arteta, who said it showed a good attitude. He said: "It's great. This is what I want from the players who aren't in the squad."

#PLStories – #MesutOzil trying to face tough times bravely after getting isolated by Arsenal #ArsenalFC

Mesut Ozil has released a statement on social media following his omission from Arsenal's Premier League squad. The German midfielder, who has not played for the club since March, was left out of the Gunners' 25-man squad after the closure of both the international and domestic transfer windows. Ozil's contract at the Emirates expires at the end of the season, but it is understood that Arsenal were ready to let the midfielder leave in the summer to get his £350,000-a-week wages off the books. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has remained tight lipped on Ozil's absences from match day squads, but the 32-year-old has now broken his silence on the situation. "I'm really deeply disappointed by the fact that I have not been registered for the Premier League season for the time being. "Upon signing my new contract in 2018, I pledged my loyalty and allegiance to the club that I love, Arsenal, and it saddens me that this has not been reciprocated. I've always tried to remain positive from week to week that there's maybe a chance to get back in the squad soon again. That is why I kept silent so far. "Before the coronavirus break, I was really happy with the development under our new coach, Mikel Arteta. We've been on a positive way and I would say my performances were on a really good level. "But then things changed, again, and I was no longer allowed to play football for Arsenal. Read More Related Articles Read More Related Articles "What else can I say? London still feels like home, I still have many good friends in this team and I still feel a strong connection with the fans of this club. "No matter what, I will keep fighting for my chance and not let my eighth season at Arsenal end like this. "I can promise you that this hard decision won't change anything in my mindset - I will continue to train as best as I can and wherever possible use my voice against humanity and for justice." Mesut Ozil's Arsenal career might be over (Image: Stuart MacFarlane/Arsenal FC via Getty Images) Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the situation between Ozil and the club was deeper than just sport. On Ozil's situation, Wenger told Sky Sports: "I don't know what's happening on a daily basis. "I just say one thing, the creative players are the players who are perfectionists and they are a bit more sensitive sometimes and they need to be encouraged. "Because if I want to play a risky pass I need to be confident and creative players they create this pass that makes the team dangerous. What's happening at the moment between him and the club looks to be more confrontational, it's not [only] based on sport, I'm convinced. "This guy has won things. He's a world champion, he's an exceptional football player. "Why is he not at the moment playing? I don't know. When you're a football player you have to respect the decision of your manager and fight to get your confidence and get back into the team again. "He can fight, contrary to what people think, he can fight. And he's an exceptional football player, he has enough quality to get back into the team. So it's down to him to get his confidence back."
