Ryan is preparing to battle last season’s ever-present Alex Remiro for a starting spot after completing his move from the Seagulls to Real Sociedad. He is returning to a Spanish league in which he previously featured for Valencia. Ryan told a press conference: “I’m a different goalkeeper now for the experiences I’ve had. “Since I left Valencia I’ve had three-and-a-half seasons as first choice at Brighton and a couple of games at Arsenal, which is a big club as well and a good experience. “I want to show what I have learned since I left Valencia. “I’ve learnt a lot. I think I’ve grown. “Obviously I’m sitting here saying I’ve improved but I want to show it with my performances. “I’ll get my head down and work hard and see what opportunities come.” Ryan, who sat out Real Sociedad's opening friendly yesterday, revealed Europa League winners Villarreal made a late bid for his services. The goalkeeper has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further year. He joins La Real on undisclosed terms and subject to international clearance.
