Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has said that he will be without a number of players for the Premier League clash against Leicester City, as the club battles with a Covid outbreak. Ahead of Thursday’s game, Conte has given the latest update on how his squad is looking with players slowly returning from their 10-day period of isolation.
Antonio Conte said: “The situation has not changed so much. The players are back in training and other players are continuing to be isolated, but also for the players back in training, they need time. They need a bit of time to be fit and find again a good physical condition. When you have Covid, the Covid is not only ten days. Many times, he brings with it, this virus, a situation that makes your body not so strong. For this reason, you have to go slowly, also because you risk having players injured after Covid.”
The Spurs boss went onto give a further update, saying that some of the returning players will only be fit enough to be named on the bench while some will be ruled out completely.
Antonio Conte added: “For sure some players tomorrow they can’t play. As I said before, players are back in training and today two players are back in training for the first time. And yesterday another player. But as you know well, they need to be fit to play. Surely tomorrow I’ll put these players on the bench for 15-20 minutes at the end. “They have in their legs 20 or 25 minutes to play with us.”
