The Seagulls fell behind during the first 45 minutes of the Premier League fixture against the Saints after Robert Sanchez was punished for a poor clearance by Armando Broja. There was a big improvement from the players during the second half and managed to scrap a draw after Neal Maupay’s late equaliser. Potter was happy with the improvement that he saw from his players in the second period of the match.
Graham Potter said: “I think we have to be honest, we were not at our best in the first half. Southampton were a better version of themselves than we were, that is not a criticism of the players, these things happen and I take responsibility for that as well. We adjusted things in the second half and I think we were a little bit better, the game was more even and we probably edged it. The second half we went down to ten men and we just kept going and created some opportunities and created some pressure and created some danger and in the end it was great to score. Great to get the point.”
The draw sees Albio collect one point from St Mary’s and stay in ninth place in the Premier League table.
