Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes Wolverhampton Wanderers have ‘changed in a good direction’ since the appointment of Bruno Lage. Speaking at his pre-match press conference,
Jurgen Klopp said: “Wolves had a clear way of playing and Lage changed it in a good direction. A real football side with a good idea. Similar system defending, everyone is involved.”
Jurgen Klopp added: “When we had a closer look at Jota, the running numbers were incredible, so the offensive players do the same. Diogo is an incredible package – personality, really smart, organised, structured in a nice way. His career… I remember when I saw him for the first time I thought he’d be a player for me. He’s so intense in all situations, technically on a great level. Incredible quality.”
Key to Wolves’ impressive run of form has been the return of star striker Raul Jimenez, who has recorded three goals and two assists across the last nine games. Jimenez missed both fixtures against Liverpool last season after fracturing his skull in a sickening collision with David Luiz at The Emirates. And Klopp has joined the rest of the football world in welcoming back Jimenez, who featured in his 100th Premier League game for Wolves against Burnley on Wednesday.
Jurgen Klopp said: “They have a proper midfield, Jimenez up front and I am really happy he overcome the misery of the awful [skull fracture]. Hopefully he will score lots of goals, apart from Saturday. They’re a really good team. They don’t concede shots on goal. We need to be creative.”
