Bruno Lage has been left frustrated by Wolverhampton Wanderers’ draw with Burnley – but the boss has listed Adama Traore’s performance amongst his positives. Wolves dominated the game at Molineux and had 16 shots compared to Burnley’s six, as well as 65 percent of the ball. Adama Traore went closest to a winner with a thunderous shot that rattled the woodwork in the first half. It was the Spain international’s first start since Wolves’ draw with Leeds United on October 23.
Bruno Lage said: “I am happy with Adama, Daniel (Podence), Trincao and Hwang. When I study the opponent I create my own plan and make my choices. When I created the strategy for this game, we thought about Adama. We chose the right man to play against Burnley and we are happy because Adama did a fantastic game. He created chances, helped the team and created chances inside. I am very happy because he did very well tonight. This is the way we work. The most important thing is the way the players train and perform, not just the first XI, but when they come from the bench, and also to understand the opponent.”
Despite two successive goalless draws against relegation candidates, Lage is happy with how his team are performing. Wolves have kept three clean sheets on the spin and boast the third best defensive record in the Premier League.
Bruno Lage added: “Every time I try to see the good side of our things. When you look at what we did in 90 minutes, the players did everything I asked. We played against a hard team, they pressed high and put a lot of physicality in the game. It’s a disappointing result, but we don’t have time to look at that. We now have a big ambition to play Liverpool on Saturday in front of our fans.”
