The hard reality of relegation was dawning upon Nottingham Forest and they were not only in danger of dropping into the championship but also of losing some of there best talents to big clubs. Their most prized asset, Irishman Roy Keane had just signed a new contract at the club but there were fears that big clubs would prize him away if Forest went down. And his international team mate and Manchester United captain was someone who was a big admirer of the Keane and thought that Keane would be ideally suited to Old Trafford.

Bryan Robson said “Roy is a winner, the lad shows a good attitude and he wants to work hard at his game. He’s a real bright prospect for the future and Manchester United would be mad not to be keen on the player.”
