Tottenham are offering fans free coach travel for their rearranged Premier League fixture with Burnley, the north London club have confirmed. Spurs were due to take on the Clarets on Sunday afternoon, but with less than an hour until the match kicked off, the game at Turf Moor was called off due to adverse weather conditions. The Turf Moor pitch was covered in snow and despite the best efforts from Burnley’s staff, they were unable to make it playable for the clash. Now, Tottenham have confirmed that supporters travelling up to Burnley for the rearranged fixture will be able to do so free of charge on the coach.
Tottenham statement read: “Following the postponement of yesterday’s Premier League fixture at Turf Moor, the Club can confirm that match tickets will remain valid for the rearranged fixture. Supporters are advised to retain their original match ticket if possible, including those who had already entered the stadium yesterday as these tickets will be reactivated. As a gesture of goodwill, we are also pleased to confirm that the Club will offer free coach travel for supporters attending the rearranged fixture. We shall issue refunds to any supporter requesting one, however please note that you will need to return your original ticket back to us. We shall then offer your ticket to other applicants for the rearranged fixture, in line with our ticketing points scheme. We therefore advise supporters not to apply for a refund until the rearranged fixture date is announced. Full details will be communicated to supporters once the match has been rescheduled, including additional details for those who were due to collect their ticket from the Ticket Office at Turf Moor yesterday. We should like to thank the supporters who made the long return journey to Burnley in difficult conditions yesterday and hope that you all arrived back home safely. Your incredible support is appreciated by everyone at the Club.”
Unsurprisingly, Tottenham supporters were left disappointed with the match being called off – and so was manager Antonio Conte, but the Spurs boss insisted the decision to postpone was the correct one.
Antonio Conte said: “It is really disappointing, we had prepared for the game, we had travelled but at the same time I think they have made the best decision, the right decision to save the situation for the players, for the fans, for everybody. There is a bit of disappointment, but the decision was right. You can see that, 10 minutes (ago), they tried to take off the snow and now it’s worse than before. In these conditions, it’s not football. I want to play football, I want to have fans, to play, to give emotion and I think in this type of situation, it’s impossible and there is a serious risk for the players to take an injury. Tomorrow we’ll have a training session and now we have to go back to London to prepare for two important games against Brentford and against Norwich.”
