Chelsea have made a fine start to the 2021-22 Premier League campaign but there is still a long way to go if Thomas Tuchel is to secure the club’s sixth title. Speaking ahead of the Blues Carabao Cup quarter-final with Brentford, the Spaniard praised Thomas Tuchel for the turnaround at Stamford Bridge but insisted there is still plenty to do and maintaining consistency will be key to that.

Keep Arrizabalaga said: “Last season, we won the Champions League and the way we’re playing now is credit to him [Tuchel], for sure. Every single player is pushing each other to play and keep up the good results, so we have to keep going like this. There’s a long, long way to go and we’re in a good position, but we know in these competitions if you lose a few games it can be difficult. We know it will be hard work [to win the League], but we want to do it.”

Kepa has become a penalty specialist for Chelsea, helping them to Super Cup glory and through the past two Carabao Cup runs in penalty shootouts. His opinion that consistency will be key is shared by Cobham graduate and winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is currently in a rich vein of form.

Callum Hudson Odoi said: “We started really well and I think it’s good to have momentum and we’ve had good momentum going into every game. We’ve had the right mentality for every game that we’ve gone into and we’ve always wanted to win every game. We’ve prepared well, we’ve come up with the right mindset and the determination to go out there and play. I think the position that we’re in now is a very good one but we have to maintain it and stay consistent to stay at the top and try and win the Premier League. We know what we need to do.”
