Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur has been ruled out of the Eagles’ trip to face Burnley tomorrow with a hamstring injury. The 34-year-old has started every Premier League match for Patrick Vieira’s side so far this season but will now face a short period out of the team, with his manager revealing he would be out for a “couple of weeks.” That could rule him out of the Eagles games against Aston Villa on November 27 and Leeds United on November 30, with the trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on December 4 now a potential return date for the Scotsman.
Patrick Vieira said: “James has a hamstring issue, he is going to be out for the next couple of weeks. We have to look at how he will progress week after week and hopefully he will be back soon because he is an important player for us. He is [one of] the leaders of the team. He brings his energy, his experience to the team and his competitiveness. We have a squad though. Injuries will give opportunities to somebody else who hasn’t played too much to come and take their chance.”
