Antonio Conte has opened up on what he expects from Everton this weekend and recalled his last match against Rafa Benitez. The new Spurs boss will take charge of his side for the first time in the Premier League on Sunday when they make the visit to Goodison Park, having been appointed earlier this week. The 52-year-old remembers that day, and know what to expect from a “tough” Everton this weekend.

Antonio Conte said: “I remember that I lost my last game in the Premier League against Benitez. For sure, our expectation is to have a tough game because Everton is a really good team, Goodison Park is not an easy place to play. At the same time, we want to show, to try to improve the result, especially for our place in the table. It won’t be easy. As I said yesterday, we need to work a lot to try to improve this team. There are many, many aspects. Not only tactical but also physically. We need a bit of time to do this. Especially to find the time as it’s a bit difficult.”

Conte has only had a brief amount of time on the training pitch with his new set of players. However, the new Spurs boss has explained that he is working on a whole host of things to try and improve them – starting with this weekend’s trip to face Everton.

Antonio Conte added: “Sure we are working on lots of things. Everything. We are focusing above all on putting a bit of organisation on the pitch. I think that a team, to obtain results, has to be organised. We are looking to work on tactics to give the team a real identity and give my ideas of football. Obviously, like I said before, this needs time. Taking a squad at the start of the season is great where you have a month where you see them every day for two training sessions. You have all the time at your disposal. When you come once the championship has started, you have to find the time to work and improve.”
