Chelsea have been excellent this season and opened up a three point gap at the top of the Premier League after beating Newcastle 3-0 at St James’ Park on Saturday. Jorginho produced a flawless display against the Magpies and revealed that Thomas Tuchel has made the Blues a more ruthless outfit since he took the reins at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho said: “We need to try to win every single game and not drop points in these kind of games. Maybe we missed that in the last two or three years.”
A cornerstone of their success is the formidable defence Tuchel has constructed; his back three have conceded just three goals in the league this campaign and only Liverpool have scored more than their tally of 26 in the top flight this season. Jorginho insists that part of their success is simply thinking only about themselves and not the efforts of their title rivals.
Jorginho added: “It feels good that we won [against Newcastle] because we need to look at ourselves and not have a focus on the other teams. We have a focus just on us, what we have to do and what we are doing because if we keep working like this, keep pushing and putting the group first then we can have the results we want. Then we will see at the end of the season what can happen.”
Next up for Chelsea is a trip to Malmo for a Champions League clash on Tuesday. The Blues comprehensively beat the Swedish side 4-0 at Stamford Bridge two weeks ago.
