Pierluigi Gollini has admitted where he can see himself ending up at Tottenham and has given his thoughts on his fellow goalkeepers in north London. Gollini is currently on a season long loan at Spurs, with an option to buy at the end of it, which seems increasingly likely to be the chosen outcome. The Italian is yet to feature in a Premier League game, currently being second choice keeper behind captain Hugo Lloris, but has played in all five other fixtures. This means Gollini is quickly becoming the chosen shot stopper in the Europa Conference League and the Carabao Cup, allowing him match minutes under Nuno Espirito Santo. In an interview with Tottenham, the 26-year-old spoke highly of Spurs’ current first choice keeper and his aims in north London.
Pierluigi Gollini said: “Hugo [Lloris] is a great goalkeeper. His career speaks for itself, he’s a world champion. He’s been kind to me from the moment I arrived. We have a great working relationship. In football you should have challenges and an aim that drives you. With this mindset you can always improve. At the end of the day, you’re in competition with yourself. I’m here to show that I will be the future number one for this club.”
Gollini also spoke on the struggles of moving to London but how he has managed to overcome them.
Pierluigi Gollini said: “When you move to a new country, you have many things to deal with. The fact that I speak English and understand the culture, means there are fewer obstacles.”
