Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has admitted his side “deserved to lose” against Leicester City this afternoon. City ran out 4-2 winners thanks to goals from Youri Tielemans, Caglar Soyuncu, Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka. Despite goals from Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford, United were still beaten convincingly, prompting calls from Reds fans for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be relieved of his duties. Like the supporters, midfielder Pogba was also downbeat about the result and admitted his team “deserved” to be beaten by Leicester because of their performance.

Paul Pogba said: “We deserved to lose. To be honest, we have been having these kind of games for a long time. We have not found the problem, conceding easy goals, stupid goals. We need to be more mature, play with more experience and arrogance in a good way. We need to find something, we need to change. We need to find the right mentality and the right tactic. Stick with it and resolve the problem.”

Meanwhile, City boss Brendan Rodgers has praised James Maddison after his performance against United this afternoon, following the midfielder’s difficult start to the season.

Brendan Rodgers said: “I thought he got on quite well, it was much more like him. He was pressing the game, working hard, and then he picked up some great little pockets of space.”

LeicestershireLive’s City correspondent Jordan Blackwell was at the King Power Stadium this afternoon, and here is how he rated the City players. Rodgers’ men will be hoping to build on today’s result when they travel to Spartak Moscow in the Europa League on Wednesday (3.30pm BST kick-off).
