Richarlison has admitted he is unsure ‘what the future holds’ after being questioned on the potential next step in his career. The Everton forward has hit double figures for goals in all competitions in each of his last three seasons at the club, developing into a key player for the team. Such impressive performances has resulted in transfer speculation, linking the 24-year-old with a move away from Goodison Park. Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly weighing up a move for Richarlison should Kylian Mbappe have departed the Ligue 1 side in the summer, though this failed to turn into concrete interest as Mbappe stayed put in Paris. Richarlison has now provided fans with an update on whether or not he intends to seek a new challenge away from Everton, insisting that he will only consider an exit if it is ‘good’ for him and the club.

Richarlison said: “I’m always very careful when I talk about it. I have great affection for the people of Everton and for the club, who received me so well from the first day I arrived. I don’t know what the future holds,” he admitted. If one day I have to go, it must be good for me, but also for the club. But if I stay, I’ll continue giving my life for this shirt and for the fans, who have always supported me and were with me at all times. I have enormous gratitude and feel at home when I’m at Finch Farm or Goodison Park.”

The former Watford man is under contract at Goodison Park until the summer of 2024, having agreed an extension back in 2019. Everton boss Rafael Benitez is keen to keep Richarlison at the club and issued a defiant response on his future towards the end of the transfer window when quizzed on the PSG transfer rumours that were circulating.

Rafa Benitez said: “We are not considering selling him. He is our player, we are really pleased with him and we are happy. Hopefully he can score a lot of goals for us this year.”
