What did you make of the performance today as there was some good football but you also let Wolves back into the game?
Different, different, different moments of the game but honestly I think we allowed Wolves to get back in the game. The first half we started really well. We were really good and we dominated, we pressed, we recovered balls and we created so many chances to put the game to bed. I’m disappointed with the set piece. We cannot allow it because the momentum changes, the atmosphere changes and in the second half it wasn’t as we wanted which like you say the first half was really good. I think we started the second half well, we had chances but then the atmosphere of Molineux is hard. They got the draw and then we’ve been able to control the moment until the end. Then the penalties I think is honestly is a task of possibility. The boys prepared well yesterday and we spent a lot of time preparing because it’s not luck. It’s having a goalkeeper who has the right info and it’s having the players making their responsibility and the tasks that they have to do it. I think I said a lot about the game today.
What did you make of Tanguy Ndombele’s performance today with 90 minutes out of him, some good things, the goal but also involved in both Wolves’ goals?
Alasdair, let’s try to avoid as much as we can individual analysis. We will do it and we will do it amongst ourselves and I think we have to be patient with Tanguy because all that happened in pre-season and this is his third game and already we’ve had however many games we’ve played so far. So let’s be patient with all our players and patient with the time that they need to get to the level that I truly believe their talent can allow.
How important was Harry Kane’s goal and do you feel he’s finding his rhythm?
I’ve just answered that question. It’s all about us, it’s about… Just for you to understand what I’m trying to explain to you, in terms of the squad and in terms of the preparation of the squad, we have players who have 65, 70 sessions and we have players who have 15 sessions. Until we can balance everything, I think that will be the moment the players improve and get better. Harry did a very good game. I think he has much more to give and it’s about the team improving and growing together.
Was it frustrating not to put the game to bed and having to play Harry Kane for 90 minutes and having to bring on Son Heung-min and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg?
The only frustration that was there was exactly what you started to say. In the first half we had many many situations to put the game to bed. Many, many. The way we recovered the ball, the chances that we created. We speak about four or five clear chances to score goals. That’s the only frustration we have.
What do you think of Wolves?
It’s a very good team, a very good team. You know the quality and the talent that they have. It’s a very tough atmosphere at Molineux – it helps the team a lot. But if you allow me I will not go much further on my analysis of Wolves, I’m sorry.
