Graham Potter was full of praise for his young Albion side as they beat Swansea City tonight in the Carabao Cup third round. The Seagulls boss was happy with Brighton coming out on top against a hardworking Swansea side who had their fair share of chances.
Graham Potter said: “Delighted to go through, it was a tough game. Two teams going at it. Swansea contributed really well, I thought they were fantastic as well. Really pleased with our players, I thought the attitude was great. Commitment to the game, showed good respect to the opponents, worked really hard and obviously Aaron’s two finishes made the difference.”
Aaron Connolly grabbed himself a brace in his first start of the season. His only previous appearance was a 45 minute cameo against Watford in August.
Graham Potter praised his player’s attitude against a “well set up” Russell Martin Swansea side.Graham Potter said: “They had a great a great attitude to the game which I think you need against Russell’s team because they’re really well set up. They keep the ball and test you in terms of how many men you commit forward. They find the spaces if you don’t close them off which they did a few times tonight. All the boys I’m really pleased with, had some young guys on there as well. I thought Ed Turns was really good making his debut.”
