Leicester City forward Ayoze Perez has said that the side are still looking to improve as the season goes on, and will be a match for any team when they find consistency. City are back in Premier League action on Sunday as they take on Brighton and Hove Albion. It’s a game where Brendan Rodgers’ men will be looking to pick up their third win of the season. The match comes just three days after the Europa League encounter against Napoli where City were pegged back from two goals up to draw the game 2-2. It was Perez who got the opening goal of the game to give City the early advantage.
Ayoze Perez said: “We need to look at ourselves, sometimes I feel like we’re our own problems sometimes, sometimes we’re not as good as we should be on the ball. And it’s all about us because I think we’ve got such a great team that can reach a very high level and we can compete against the best teams so it’s all about us trying to find that regularity in terms of performances and results and that starts on Sunday. It’s a tough test for us, but I’m pretty sure that we’ll be ready for it.”
Perez himself won’t be available for selection for the clash at the AMEX Stadium as he serves the third of his three-match Premier League suspension following the red card against West Ham. He could make his league comeback against Burnley in the next home game.
Ayoze Perez added: “Obviously, I can’t wait, [it was] a bit harsh in getting the three game ban, an international break in between, so it feels like I’ve been out for six months! But I can’t wait to be there, helping out the team as much as I can, and playing football which is what I love the most. I’ve been trying to keep myself as fit as possible but this game time is helping me for the next couple of games, last one now against Brighton and then I’m able to play again.”
