Aston Villa’s next opponents, Everton, have been dealt a major injury blow. Following the 3-0 defeat at Chelsea, Villa host Everton in the evening kick-off on Saturday, September 18. The Toffees are currently taking on Burnley, but are doing so without England forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has been ruled out for several weeks.
Rafa Benitez said: “He has broken his toe. He was training with problems and playing with pain. He had an injury the other day to his quadriceps and we have to wait two-to-three weeks, maybe more. It’s always a problem when you lose one of your best players but we have to manage that and hopefully the other players will do well and we will not miss him then.”
The absence of Calvert-Lewin has forced Everton to tweak their formation, with Richarlison, who usually operates behind Calvert-Lewin, leading the line against Burnley.
